Description
Launched in 2025, COMETES – Skills and Careers in Space – is a national programme dedicated to skills development within the French space industry.
In response to the sector’s rapid growth, it aims to train a new generation of professionals, whilst raising widespread awareness of the challenges and opportunities presented by the space sector.
Over a five-year period, the project aims to :
- Train 11,000 learners, through initial and continuing education, in key space sector professions and skills.
- Create 10 innovative degree programmes, designed to meet the specific needs of industry stakeholders.
- Raise awareness among 300,000 people, from a young age, to inspire careers and promote the diversity of space sector professions.
Winner of the « Compétences et Métiers d’Avenir » call for expressions of interest under the France 2030 plan, and led by the Toulouse University, COMETES brings together a consortium of 26 partners from five French regions : higher education institutions, research centres, major industrial players, local authorities and training organisations.
